This document establishes common terms, definitions and symbols associated with geometrical product specifications (GPS) for use in rolling bearing documents. This document gives requirements and recommendations to transform GPS specifications into figures and tables in standards published under the direct responsibility of ISO/TC 4. The common uniform representation of GPS is essential to avoid different interpretations amongst ISO/TC 4 standards. This document includes basic rules for the uniform representation of ISO/TC 4 symbols, tolerance values, limits of size, deviation limits and limit values derived from GPS indications according to e.g. ISO 1101, ISO 1302 and ISO 14405 1, i.e. as indicated on technical drawings.

This document gives recommendations for the calculation of the effective static safety under consideration of tilting or misalignment, operating clearance of the bearing and internal load distribution on rolling elements. The calculation method provided in this document covers influencing parameters additional to those described in ISO 76. The directions and limitations given in ISO 76 and ISO 20056-2 apply to this document. The calculation method pertains to the static safety of the bearings. Other mechanisms of failure, like false brinelling, fatigue life, wear or microspalling (gray-staining), lie outside the scope of this document. This document applies to single- and multi-row radial and thrust ball bearings, subjected to radial and axial load and with radial clearance and tilt taken into account. It also applies to single- and multi-row radial and thrust roller bearings, subjected to radial and axial load and with radial clearance, edge stress and tilt taken into account. References to methods for the analysis of the internal load distribution under general load are given. The analysis of internal load distribution and modified reference rating life for multi-row bearings or bearings of a more complex geometry can be derived from the formulae given in this document. For these bearings, the load distribution for each individual row has to be considered. The calculation of load distribution and nominal reference rating life is also applicable to hybrid bearings, using the static load ratings per ISO 20056-2.

This European Standard specifies together with EN 14399-1 and EN 14399-2, the requirements for assemblies of high-strength structural bolts and nuts of system HV suitable for preloaded joints with large widths across flats, thread sizes M12 to M36 and property classes 10.9/10. Bolting assemblies (including fit bolts with nominal shank diameter d + 1 mm) in accordance with this document have been designed to allow preloading of at least 0,7 fub × As ) according to EN 1993-1-8 (Eurocode 3) and to obtain ductility predominantly by plastic deformation of the engaged threads. For this purpose the components have the following characteristics: - nut height approximately 0,8 d; - bolt with short thread length. Bolting assemblies in accordance with this document include washers according to EN 14399-6. NOTE Attention is drawn to the importance of ensuring that the bolting assemblies are correctly used if satisfactory results are to be obtained. For recommendations concerning proper application, reference to EN 1090-2 is made. General requirements and requirements for suitability for preloading are specified in EN 14399-2. Clamp lengths and grip lengths for the bolting assemblies are specified in the normative Annex A.

This draft European Standard specifies, together with EN 14399 1 and EN 14399 2, the requirements for assemblies of high-strength structural countersunk bolts and nuts of system HR suitable for preloaded joints with thread sizes M12 to M36 and property classes 8.8/8 or 8.8/10 and 10.9/10. Bolting assemblies in accordance with this document have been designed to allow preloading of at least 0,7 fub × As ) according to EN 1993 1 8 (Eurocode 3) and to obtain ductility predominantly by plastic elongation of the bolt. For this purpose the components have the following characteristics: - regular nut height according to (style 1) see EN ISO 4032; - thread length of the bolt according to ISO 888. Bolting assemblies in accordance with this document include washers according to EN 14399 6 or to EN 14399 5. NOTE Attention is drawn to the importance of ensuring that bolting assemblies are correctly used if satisfactory results are to be obtained. For recommendations concerning proper application, reference to EN 1090–2 is made. General requirements and requirements for suitability for preloading are specified in EN 14399 2. Clamp lengths and grip lengths for the bolting assemblies are specified in the normative Annex A.
